“Jesus Christ”. That’s exactly, word for word, what I uttered aloud upon waking this morning. Not because I had to run, or because today was not scheduled to be fun, but simply for the reason that I do most things, I wanted to. This, I realize, and it pains me to no end, is a luxury pitifully few others enjoy in this day and age, and, I’m afraid, will most likely continue on this way for some time into the future. Yes, it seems as if, from what I can tell, the Mondays are only going to be coming thicker and faster from here on out until finally Tuesday through Sunday will be the stuff of legends, a paradise lost, the wonderful Garden that (to no one’s great surprise) because of some Eve or another we were all chased from, and then barred from ever returning to, by some winged dudes wielding flaming swords on orders from The Man Upstairs.

Honestly though my Divination skills have been stronger than they are now, and so there may be hope yet. Maybe.

“Are these the shadows of the things that Will be, or are they shadows of things that May be, only? Men’s courses will foreshadow certain ends, to which, if persevered in, they must lead, but if the courses be departed from, the ends will change. Say it is thus with what you show me!”

*As you may know this is the title of a song by Cat Stevens, and, as you also may know, though I fear it not be the case (especially amongst those in this younger generation), years and years ago, there was a film made called, ‘Harold and Maude’ for which this song was specifically written.

If you want to sing out, sing out*

Ooh baby, ah baby like
Ooh baby, ah baby like
Ooh baby, ah baby like
We can sing a little song
Every time we get it up
Ooh baby, ah baby like
Ooh-ooh ooh ooh, ah baby like
Ooh baby, ah baby like
We can sing a little song
Every time we get it up

Alright, let’s be honest, things, well, they’re not as good as they could be. I mean, the wolf isn’t dwelling with the lamb, and you won’t see the leopard laying down with the kid, and, no matter how hard you look you’re not going to find the calf and the young lion and the fatling together, and, as much as I am a a fan of “pint sized panels”,  the last thing anyone needs is a little child leading them. But, there’s no reason things can’t improve, and being all down in the mouth never solved anything, so, stop your constant moping and join the always positive Wilson for a feel good sing-along.

*As you may know this is the title of a song by Cat Stevens, who, years and years ago, got tired of waiting around for the “Peace Train” and wrote a song called ‘I’m gonna get me a gun’ which contained the following lines:

So you think you can push me around
And make me run, well, I’m gonna tell you now

I’m gonna get me a gun
I’m gonna get me a gun
And all those people who put me down
You better get ready to run
‘Cause I’m gonna get me a gun

If you want to sing out, sing out*

.

Sing it out
Boy, you’ve got to see what tomorrow brings
Sing it out
Girl, you’ve got to be what tomorrow needs
For every time that they want to count you out
Use your voice every single time you open up your mouth

Ray Toro, Frank Iero, Gerard Way, Michael Way

I’m not going to kid you things aren’t looking so good right now. Wars over there and unrest at home. Things that were one way not being that way no more. It’s enough to make even the toughest want to throw in the towel. But, don’t do it there’s a light up ahead, hope around the corner, a good friend waiting with a song on his lips wanting to share it with you. So, come on, don’t be shy, and sing-along with Wilson.

*As you may know this is the title of a song by Cat Stevens, who, years and years ago, long before he became known as Yusuf Islam, wrote another song called ‘Peace Train’ which, well, you know the song I’m sure, so there’s no need to go into it.

If you want to sing out, sing out*

.

Sing, sing a song
Make it simple to last
Your whole life long
Don’t worry that it’s not
Good enough for anyone
Else to hear
Just sing, sing a song

Francis Healy and Joseph G. Raposo

No doubt these are troubled times we live in. Strife and struggle nearly everywhere you look. Makes you sometimes want to just turn away and forget it all. Well, now you can. All you have to do is join in with Wilson as he puts a record on the turntable and sings all his troubles away.

*As you may know this is the title of a song by Cat Stevens, now known as Yusuf Islam, who, years and years ago, made some questionable statements that could easily be construed as support for a fatwa that had been declared calling for Salman Rushdie’s death because of some words he wrote in a book. This sort of behavior is not at all condoned by The Institute, or Wilson. Thank you, The President and Founder.

What does it all mean?!?!

.

“The uncontested absurdities of today are the accepted slogans of tomorrow.”

-Ayn Rand‡

.

What does it all mean? That is what a commenter asked me on a post I made recently, and, honestly, my first reaction to his question was, “Aw, c’mon, you gotta be shitin’ me”. Then, some time later, as I went about the motions one must go about in order to complete any given day, the question again occurred to me, but this time as, “What the hell does it all mean”? Which, with its inclusion of ‘the hell‘, in my mind, makes the asking of the question seem more urgent and the answering of it that much more difficult, and, as such, leads inevitably to me feeling much less inclined to bother trying to answer it. However, were I to be pressed to come up with an answer , perhaps because of a threat to my life or to the lives of my loved ones, it would without doubt be, “There’s no telling”.

“Only a few find the way, some don’t recognize it when they do, some…don’t ever want to.”

.‡Hey, hi, good to see you. Just wanted to say that although I include a quote from Ayn Rand (Peace be upon her) I am in no way suggesting you read any of her works or devote yourself to the philosophy of Objectivism. I just thought the quote funny, that’s all. Really.

.

† Oh, hello again. I thought I better assure you, you know, just in case, that my inclusion of a quote from The Cheshire Cat, a fictional character from the novel ‘Alice’s Adventure’s in Wonderland’ is in no way meant to endorse the behaviors of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (aka Lewis Carroll) who, it has been suggested (in a BBC documentary no less!), was a “repressed paedophile”. Also, I would like to make it known that my mentioning of this does not necessarily mean I believe it. Thank you. I think that covers it.
