I found it! Accidentally, but I did find it, covered in dust behind a tin of nails.
My beloved Satellite.
a classic short film
Slightly Varying Circumstances Films
An original. Impressive, and well worthy of it’s own film. In a way, it didn’t feel long enough. Then again, some things need to be kept snappy. The music at the beginning and the end has become a kind of musical mantra to me, sort of soothing. When I am old, older than this, and I am quite old now, that music will come back to me I believe and make some things better. May I enquire as to who produces the tune?
Ps – “nice wrist action ” – The Cloud.
(Everyone was thinking it, the Cloud had to say it I’m afraid.)
I, when telling someone my age, always end it with “years young”, and when I’m older I plan, look forward to really, calling myself a ‘seasoned citizen’, or, depending on the crowd (it’s so important to know the audience), a ‘gray tiger’. I won’t be wearing purple though. Anyway,
I have wondered if the music was annoying.I am glad you enjoy(ed) it, and will continue to well into your golden years.
The tune is called ‘Stucco’ and it is on the album ‘Feast of Wire’ by the band ‘Calexico’.
-The President and Founder (currently suffering from a severe addiction to the benjamins)
I always knew instinctively that film making has its ups and downs and this film highlights that reality very succinctly.
Satellite tracking can be tricky business under the best of circumstances; it is reassuring to know this one has been reacquired.
Since it has been mentioned – I find the musical interlude offers a calming effect in preparation to receive the visual stimulation that The President and Founder has so carefully chosen to communicate. Plus it give you a chance to make sure the volume is properly set so as not to miss those awesome yo-yoy (yo-yoie? yo-yoee? yo-yo-E) sounds.
Replaying the tune again as a buffer at the ending allows for a smooth transition back into your world post-video .
Interesting. I almost exclusively wear only purple or green. Or the two together. Age is the best thing to happen to a person to my mind, I have enjoyed it more with each passing year. It grants clarity and dollops of wiseness are festooned upon one. This one anyway. A gray tiger. Here they say silver fox so that’s a pleasant change. Not a stuffed one though I hope.
ps- I’m onto the music and shall be listening to a few tracks this very evening. I was relieved to discover ‘the Benjamins’ isn’t some kind of affliction.
Thank you for the input.
I did originally intend the beginning to be a preparatory time for the viewer to adjust him or herself to being more able to take in the “IDEAS” I was to present in the body of the film, a kind of hypnotic device, which would then be repeated at the end allowing the viewer to re enter the “real world” whatever, of course, they determined (without any judgements by me) that to be in their own minds
I think it also allows the distracted viewer to get their shit together so as not to miss a second of what is a very important film
-The President and Founder
PS That is the actual sound (without any digital manipulation whatsoever) of a yo-yo in action!
I forgot “that old guy”, that’s what people will call me, they will say “It was that old guy again” or they may interject ‘fuckin’, depending on who is speaking and the situation, like so, “it was that fuckin’ old guy again”
I don’t think I have any purple clothing, maybe some green, I do have the purple couch. They say it’s a healing color, but, please, and I know this from personal experience, don’t use it in place of antibiotics.
– The President and Founder
The Benjamins will cure what ails ya!
I’m kidding. They won’t, it is not within their power.
Seriously, I mean it.
– The President and Founder (knows there are much more important things in life than dead presidents but is unable, at this moment, to think of any)
